New Beginnings Transitional Living Foundation respects the privacy of prospective residents, current residents, families, referral partners, donors, and other visitors. This policy explains the limited role of this public website and how information connected with it may be handled.

New Beginnings Transitional Living Foundation ("New Beginnings," "we," "us," or "our")

Scope of this policy

This policy applies to newbeginningspgh.org and to information you choose to provide through a public website form or another contact method identified on the site. It does not describe every record New Beginnings may maintain in connection with housing, nonprofit operations, employment, volunteering, or professional coordination.

New Beginnings provides recovery housing. It is not a clinical treatment provider, and the public website is not a patient portal, treatment-record system, secure intake system, or emergency communication service.

Information you provide

The public inquiry form may ask for information such as:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your email address and telephone number
  • Whether you are contacting us for yourself, a loved one, a client, or another reason
  • The applicant's name when another person submits a housing application
  • Housing requested, adult status, desired move timing, and preferred contact method
  • Previous New Beginnings residency and willingness to follow shared home expectations
  • A primary referral source and a request to discuss accommodations privately
  • A short message explaining how New Beginnings may be able to help

You may also provide information when you telephone New Beginnings. Please share only what is reasonably necessary for a general availability, referral, donation, or partnership conversation. More detailed information, when appropriate, should be shared through the private process New Beginnings identifies for you.

Sensitive information

Please protect your information

Do not submit sensitive information through a general website form. Begin with basic contact information and a general description of what you need.

Do not place any of the following in a public inquiry:

  • Medical records, diagnoses, medication information, or treatment histories
  • Detailed substance-use, mental-health, or clinical information
  • Criminal-history records, court documents, or supervision records
  • Social Security numbers, government identification numbers, or passwords
  • Bank, credit-card, insurance, income, or other financial-account information

A website inquiry does not create a confidential clinical relationship. If more information is needed, staff can explain an appropriate next step.

Hosting and technical data

This website is hosted through Cloudflare. Like other hosting and security providers, Cloudflare may process technical connection and security information when a visitor requests a page. That processing is governed in part by Cloudflare's own terms and privacy materials.

The public inquiry form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce automated abuse, Cloudflare Workers and storage to process and back up submissions, and Google Gmail to deliver an email copy to the website administrator. Those services may process the contact details, message, IP address, browser information, and security-verification data connected with a submission. The site does not currently use a separate audience-analytics product.

The footer includes an OpenStreetMap service-area map. When that map loads, OpenStreetMap may receive your IP address and browser information. No residence locations are sent to or marked on the map.

How information may be used

Information you choose to provide may be used to:

  • Respond to a general question or return your call
  • Discuss general housing fit, current availability, and the next step in an intake
  • Communicate with a family member, referral partner, donor, or community organization
  • Protect the website and organization from spam, misuse, or security threats
  • Maintain records reasonably connected with nonprofit operations or legal obligations

Information collected later through a separate housing, referral, employment, or other operational process may be governed by additional notices and procedures.

When information may be shared

Information may be available to New Beginnings personnel and to PGHDMA, the website administrator, when they need it to route or respond to an inquiry or operate the public website. It may also be processed by service providers that support hosting, spam protection, form delivery, email, and submission backup, including Cloudflare and Google.

New Beginnings may disclose information when required by applicable law or a valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to address fraud, misuse, security, or an immediate safety concern. This policy does not authorize visitors to submit confidential records through the public website.

Security and retention

New Beginnings takes reasonable steps appropriate to the public nature of this website. No website, email, telephone system, or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Limiting a website inquiry to basic contact information is an important part of protecting your privacy.

Website inquiry information may be kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain appropriate organizational records, resolve a concern, or meet a legal obligation. Retention may vary according to the nature of the communication.

Your choices

You may choose not to use a website form and may call New Beginnings instead. You may also contact us to ask a reasonable question about information you previously submitted, or to request a correction or deletion. A request may be limited when information must be retained for a legitimate operational or legal reason, and identity verification may be required before a request is completed.

Other websites

This site may link to government agencies, licensing information, recovery resources, nonprofit records, social services, or other organizations. New Beginnings does not control the privacy or security practices of those websites. Review their policies before providing information to them.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the website, organizational practices, or applicable requirements change. The review date at the top of the page identifies the current published version. Material website-practice changes should be reflected here before or when they take effect.
